How Did We Get Here: Violence Against Educators in the Classroom
Monday, October 19 at 6 p.m. ET
Educators and students deserve to be free from physical and psychological threats. Unfortunately, school-based violence occurs in and around schools every day. In this session, we’ll explore why we’re seeing increases in violence against educators. We’ll look at the ways women educators and other marginalized identities particularly experience this violence and how members can disrupt school-based violence for safer school environments and accountability.
Featuring: Franchesca Mejia, NEA Women’s Issues Committee Past Chair; Dr. Susan D. McMahon, Chair of the APA Task Force on Violence Against Educators and School Personnel; Madeline Kennedy-Macfoy, Gender at Work; and NEA Executive Committee Member Shannon McCann.
