WASHINGTON — The Senate Judiciary Committee today advanced President Biden’s historic nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. Her addition represents another critical step towards a Supreme Court that better reflects and respects the America it serves. The 3-million-member National Education Association applauds the committee’s action and urges the full Senate to act swiftly to confirm Judge Jackson.

“Since the moment she was nominated by President Biden, we at the National Education Association have found immense joy in recognizing that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s story is our story. As the proud product of public schools and public-school educators, she is living proof of the potential that every young student with a dream and drive carries inside of them. We are eager to see the rest of her story unfold — and all the stories hers will inspire.
“Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is one of the most qualified Supreme Court nominees in American history. She is also well on her way to making history as the first Black woman justice on the highest court in the land. By confirming Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, we are all taking a step forward to a more just system that looks more like America and serves all of us. Now, the Senate must do its job and confirm her.”
