Advancing Racial Social Justice

Affiliate Staff work with members, colleagues, supporters and partners to address white supremacy culture in many settings. They have to be highly skilled in leading, coaching and organizing across racial differences and especially in dealing with white fragility and interpersonal oppressions. UniServ and Organizers need to understand the methods and commitments required to center Racial Justice in all aspects of an issue campaign.
Campaign Lab: I Have an Issue, Now What?

The Campaign Lab serves as a hub for UniServ, Organizers, and Members to support each other in building winning campaigns that grow power and encourage supermajority organizing. Teachers Unions and Social Justice *FOR MEMBERS AND AFFILIATE STAFF*

This session will explore how Teachers Union and Social Justice connects educators' union campaigns to social justice work in communities. This session is open to affiliate staff and members and will connect participants with resources for beginning and continuing equity work support by organizing and mobilizing through locals and state affiliates.
Mental Health and Wellness for Educators

In this session, participants will have an opportunity to explore mental health and wellness resources and practices through the lens of the body-mind connection. By understanding secondary trauma, we can put in place practices that support our resilience in the face of workplace challenges.

Winning School Board Elections
February 9, 2027 – 2:30-4:00 PM EST
Affiliate Staff understand that there is a difference between the scope of worksite campaigns and local political campaigns such as school board elections. While both are important, school board elections make a huge impact in the day-to-day lives of public school employees. This session will provide resources to staff in mobilizing members to action around school board elections and lobbying.
Higher Ed Board of Trustees Elections/Political Activism

This session for affiliate staff will offer resources and methods for empowering Higer Ed members toward electoral activism. We will examine what makes winning campaigns for elected boards of trustees as well as political activism surrounding appointed boards.
Adult Learning Theory: Training Members and Colleagues with Confidence

Learn how to level up your professional development and trainings by grounding them in adult learning theory and best practices. Participants will be able to collaborate with one another and share resources and ideas.
Evaluating Member Data: Using Data to Find, Reach, and Organize Member
April 29, 2027 – 2:30-4:00 PM EST
In this session, participants will focus on the skills and best practices needed to successfully use Excel to evaluate membership data. Participants will be able to apply basic sort, filter, concatenate, and text to column functions. The basic skills needed for each session will be reviewed at the beginning; ensuring participants of any skill level can join at any time.
Strategic Planning: Using Data to Drive Campaigns
May 11, 2027 – 2:30-4:00 PM EST
This workshop is focused on creating a multi-year, multi-issue plan that will intentionally and strategically build union power, community support, and coalitional power. Participants will leave with tools for identifying and aligning with potential coalition partners, and a clear plan for building local and regional power to attain goals that achieve a long-term vision rooted in shared value.
