That's why the members of the National Education Association are determined to make college affordable for future students and to get people currently burdened with student debt the forgiveness they deserve. H.R. 1, the budget reconciliation bill passed last summer, made a number of changes to federal student aid and student loan administration. A number of those changes took effect on July 1, 2026 and NEA is here to help our members and educators learn how to navigate them.
